My oldest daughter and I had the best time on a little getaway to Lanier Islands! It wasn’t very crowded and the lake was so peaceful this time of year. We enjoyed some rest and relaxation, but also enjoyed the fun winter activities at Snow Island that are going on through the rest of February (weekends only)!
There is a giant hill with (REALLY fast) snow tubing, a free snow play area, a fire pit for s’mores ($7.99 for a s’mores kit), ice skating, and a bunch of carnival rides. You can purchase individual tickets or a wrist band for all of the activities. We went with the wrist band, and they were $54.99 per person. We had such a fun time!
We also checked out the restaurants that are currently open on the island. We had a really fun dinner at Bullfrog’s (on the bottom floor of Legacy Lodge), and a delicious breakfast buffet at Sidney’s (main floor of Legacy Lodge). Highly recommend if you’re looking for dining options, especially the breakfast, yum! There are also other restaurants and bars that are open in the warmer months.
I also got to test out my winter gear in the snow, and it was all very warm! The only problem was I did not think through my shoe choice very well. They are comfortable but not good traction for snow – I completely wiped out twice!
Happy Camping!!
