Coleman Lantern 17b

Interior Measurements, Storage Solutions and Products that Fit Spaces in the 17B

Ours is the 2021 model, and even within the model year, Coleman seems to move things around a bit. Hopefully this will be a helpful resource regardless of your set up!  I will keep this list updated with measurements and products as we go.  Please let me know if I am missing anything you need!  Happy camping!

Coleman Lantern 17B Interior Measurements
  • Shelf above bed – 92.5″ long x 10″ deep x 6.5″ to where ceiling starts to slant

We have the DECOMOMO storage bins below, make sure to select “Small 6 pack”.  They also fit nicely in the overhead bins.  I’ve linked some other options that I found that should fit on the shelf according to the listed product dimensions.

  • Short Queen bed – 60″x75″

We have the Zinus 6 Inch Gel Infused Green Tea mattress listed below, but since it goes in and out of stock I also linked some other highly rated options from Amazon.  We also have and love these RV Queen Sheets!

  • Shelf to door frame – 32″  (our 32″ TV fits great)

We also find it helpful to have a DVD player for the kids to watch movies at night since the wifi at many campgrounds is not always ideal.

  • Nook at foot of queen bed – 42″ x 20″, 20.25″ from floor to nook, 54″ to ceiling
  • In front of nook on floor (to right of front door) – 20.25″ tall, 20.5″ wide, 15.5″ deep (17″ wide from fire extinguisher)

The “laundry baskets” below fit perfect on that area 3 across.  They also fit in the under queen storage.

We have these Sterilite drawers (set of 2) for the nook at the foot of the bed and they are very easy to toss on the bed for travel and can be turned forward or to the side.  I hide my stick vacuum behind them for easy access when we’re camping (stores under dinette bench during travel).  I have also seen others use a fabric cube storage solution like the one linked below in that space.

  • Entry area – 19″ x 36″ – the little rug linked below is perfect for this space
  • Side cabinet – 16.5″D x 15″W x 25.25″ T (opening) – 5.5L Sterilite trash can fits perfect in here with room next to it for other things (including this First Aid kit!)  We also have a paper towel holder mounted above this cabinet (tip learned the hard way – put a small block of wood behind where you are installing paper towel holder so the screws have something to grip to), but I’ve seen a few people add a drawer to this space!
  • We also love this vacuum cleaner linked below that breaks down for storage.
  • Not a measurement, but a keyless RV lock is a game changer! We have the “RVLock” brand one linked below, but many people also love the all metal latch.it lock linked here as well.
  • I’ve also seen people install a two step entry like the one linked below.

  • Counter space to left of sink – 18.5″ x 24″
  • Stove – 18.5″ x 13.5″
  • Wood panel right of stove (side of fridge) – 24″W x 27″ to bottom of cabinet
  • STOVE COVER LINK (pop off stove knobs for it to fit) – https://amzn.to/3AuPtSB – unfortunately this one has been sold out for a while, I’m watching for a restock!

These are perfect for hanging things without putting holes in the walls!  And we have this cute scratch off map hung up in our camper to track the places we’ve been.

  • Upper cabinets over sink – 12″D x 9.5″ T to lip, 11″ inside x 48″ across both inside.  These clear containers fit perfectly in here.

Have not tried this yet, but have seen many people add these gas struts to the cabinets.

  • Nook over fireplace – 28″W x 1.5″D x 7″T
  • Drawers (2) – 15.25″ x 11.25″ 2.9″
  • Floor space – 26″ W x 112″ L
  • Bunk bed size – 72″ x 29″

I used twin size sheets and these sheet clips below.  There are also options for “cot size” sheets that fit perfectly but are a little more expensive than my $9 Target twin sheets.

I also got the queen mattress topper linked below, and traced it and cut it for the bunks.  It’s almost exactly half a queen.

  • Under bottom bunk – 14″ x 40″ x 27″
  • R Wall of bottom bunk – 41″ W x 29″ T
  • Wall space to R of bunk (opposite dinette) – 12″
  • Bottom bunk – 16″ from floor
  • Floor to top bunk – 45.25″
  • Bottom bunk to top bunk – 29.25″
  • Dinette bottom cushion – 40.5″ x 21.5″ x 4″
  • Dinette top cushion – 40.5″ x 13.5″ x 4″
  • Table – 29″ x 39.5″
  • Total dinette dimensions for bed – 70″ x 40.5″
  • Wall over dinette cushion to to bunk – 19.5″ x 42.25″

**The standard Graco Pack N Play fits in-between the dinette benches!***

  • Cabinet over dinette – 12″D x 12″ T (14″ inside) x 36″W
  • Either side of window – 21.5″
  • Top of window to table – 25.5″
  • Valence – 30″W x 3.5″ D x 5″T

**We have popped out that piece on the left for easier access to that storage space, and a 11″ storage cube basket fits perfectly there.

  • Inside of fridge – 10.5″ deep x 14.75″ W
  • Freezer – 10″ x 14″ x 3.5″
  • Fridge Drawer – 4.5″ x 14″ x 6.25″
  • Outside front door – We have the blue/green 6×9 mat below and it works great, and it folds up really small and takes up very little room in the outside storage compartment.  Here are some other highly rated mats on Amazon as well.

  • Shower wall to wall – 36.5″W
  • Floor to shower curtain rod – 71″
  • Floor to ceiling – 75″
  • Inside shower – 23.75″ x 35.5″
  • Left shower wall – 36″
  • Back wall whole bathroom – 60.5″
  • Right wall – 36″
  • Little wall left of door – 7″
  • Over toilet – 33″ W x 57″ T
  • Toilet to wall on Right – 11″
  • Left of toilet to shower – 10.5″
  • Bathroom door – 21.75″ x 71″

**Be extra mindful of the weight of any storage solution you choose for the bathroom!  The lighter the better!** I’ve linked our storage as well as others I’ve seen!

We have and love these microfiber towels since we are a family of 5 and have everyone’s towels to hang up to dry!  We use this pop up hamper for our laundry and keep it in the corner by the toilet or in the shower.

Please let me know if I am missing anything you need and I am happy to add it to the list!

  1. thank you SO much! I see the STERILITE 3 DRAWER in the pic is at the foot of the bed. Where did you put the 3 laundry baskets?

  2. Thank you! Just bought this camper. Getting delivered later this week! This has given me a great start to getting us ready for our 1st trip. What about a trash can? Do you use the cabinet space to the left of the sink, near the door? Dimensions?

    1. Sorry for the delayed response! Congrats on the camper! We put our trash can in the cabinet by the front door to the left when you walk in. 16.5″D x 15″W x 25.25″ T and a 5.5L Sterilite trash can fits perfect in here with room next to it for other things. I got ours at Walmart!

    1. Oh that’s one I missed! I can measure next time I have the camper and add to the list!! Sorry just now seeing this comment for some reason, hope you found what you needed!! 🙂

  3. This is like my go-to manual now! Thank you! did you ever do a backsplash? I’m planning to. Just wondering if you have tips.

  4. We just got this camper and you are a godsend because I often go shopping without measuring anything!!! Thanks so much!!!

  5. Late in the game as I just got this camper. THANKS for all the measurements and tips as this has made getting the camper ready for at least a couple of trips before winterizing.

  6. This is awesome! Especially the measurements as Coleman doesn’t even list any of them. Do you use a sway control hitch to pull the trailer? If so which one?
Thanks for all the helpful information!

  7. This has helped me decide to buy this model! I was worried about the storage but have a whole list ready. Thank you so much.

I didn’t see measurements of the screen door. I need to put a metal screen cover on the bottom half to protect it from my nervous dog-child. Any ideas? Thanks again! I have been on this page obsessively all day. You saved me a lot or worry 🙂

  8. Wow, this is amazing, thank you soooo much! We just bought this trailer to have at our double campsite for next year for our teenagers to sleep in. It’s still at the dealers, we want to get a better queen mattress, but couldn’t find the dimensions anywhere! This is all so very helpful, we can now start shopping for everything so we’ll be ready to start enjoying it right away in the spring! Thanks again!

I’m wondering if you happen to know if the sizes are the same on the 2022 they look super similar also wondering if you have the dimension from the bunk wall across the dinette to the end of the dinette area (bed)

  10. Hi 🙂 thank you for these!! Did you ever go any back splash in the kitchen or bathroom? Also have you found a lightweight mirror for the bathroom?
